Dryer Blower Upgrades
Functional Description
Introduction Dryer blower motor upgrades increase air flow and pressure to ensure maximum
drying efficiency prior to PCB (Printed Circuit Board) assemblies exiting the
system. Dryer section blower motors can be upgraded from the standard 7.5 HP
model to a 10 HP model. Dryer module #1 and optional module #3 can alternately
be upgraded to a 15 HP model.
Standard or Electrosonic™ airknives work well with all horsepower models. The
customer must evaluate the product and the drying requirements to ensure the
most efficient blower is used for the process. In general 15 HP blower
applications work best with large, heavy PCB assemblies or with the Side
Connector Airknife Technology (SCAT) option. See SCAT on page 283. Smaller
PCB assemblies can become airborne, or lodged in the conveyor system when
using higher horsepower motors.
In Figure 16–6 note the size difference in the motor housings between the two
blower units. The standard 7.5 HP unit has three (3) air delivery hoses and the 15
HP unit, configured for the SCAT package has four (4) air delivery hoses and a
larger hose mount housing.

upgrade blower motor on the right.
