While it is not recommended, ADVA Optical Networking recognizes that this may
happen. As a result, the SH12 ships with a honeycomb protection plate installed. This
plate protects the sensitive EMC material inside the shelf where the modules are
installed. This protection plate should only be removed after the shelf has been mounted
in the rack and before modules are installed.
