Symbol Publication Description
IEC 417 Functional ground terminal
Present directly on the product and identifies the
location of the shelf’s functional ground terminal.
This terminal must not be used for safety grounding
purposes.
IEC 417 ESD Susceptibility symbol*
Present directly on the product and identifies the
location of the shelf’s earth bonding point (ESD
Common Point Ground) for connecting the coiled
retractable cord of an antistatic wrist strap.

General warning symbol*
Mainly occurs on a product safety label to alert
persons to potential hazards. All safety messages on
a product safety label that follow this symbol shall be
obeyed to avoid possible personal injury, equipment
damage or malfunctions.

High Voltage hazard symbol*
Appears both on the product and on product safety
labels to indicate high voltage and risk of electric
shock. It calls your attention to use precaution
because an electric current is present. Read the
message on the label and follow the instructions
carefully.

Hot surface hazard symbol*
Appears on product safety labels to warn people
against potential hot surface inside. Read the
message on the label.

Laser beam hazard symbol*
Appears on product safety labels to warn people
against potential laser radiation. Read the message
on the label and follow the instructions carefully.
IEC 60825-1:2014 Ed. 3.0 Laser Class 1 symbol
Appears on product safety labels to warn people
against potential laser radiation. The equipment
contains Class 1 lasers which are safe under all
conditions of normal use. The MPE cannot be
exceeded when viewing a laser beam with the naked
eye or with the aid of magnifying optics (no risk to
eyes or skin).
