DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING OF
TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER UNIT
Disassembling
NOTE:
When repairing the transmission or transfer unit, you have
to fit new oil seals. However, if the oil level continues to
lower in the transmission, replace the forward seal and
the 5th gear seal.
On the cabin
1) Remove gear lever and the transfer gear lever assembly (see

3) If the transmission is going to be removed:
• Drain transmission oil, removing the plug (1) and from transfer
box, removing plug (2).
• Clean oil from plug thread and housings, apply the
recommended sealant, assemble the plugs and tighten them
to the specified torque.
Torque for plug (1):
4,5 Kg-m (45 Nm)
Torque for plug (2):
2,3 Kg-m (23 Nm)

2) Disconnect negative cable from the battery.
CAUTION:
In vehicle with common rail engine, do not
disconnect the battery up to 10 seconds after turn
off ignition.
