Check for dissonance
The check points are shown in the figure Inspection points, balancing device on
page 118.
ActionCheck points
If dissonance is detected, perform maintenance accord-
ing to maintenance kits and instructions in section Re-
placing spherical roller bearing, link ear on page 340 and
on page ?.
Check for dissonance from
the bearing at the link ear
and the bearings at the rear
attachments.

If dissonance is detected, replace the balancing device
or consult ABB Robotics.
Check for dissonance from
the balancing device (a tap-
ping sound, caused by the
springs inside the cylinder).

How to replace the device is detailed in section Repla-
cing the balancing device on page 354. This section also
specifies the spare part number!
If dissonance is detected, perform maintenance accord-
ing to given instructions in Maintenance kit, complete.
Check for dissonance from
the piston rod (squeaking
may indicate worn plain
bearings, internal contamin-
ation or insufficient lubrica-
tion).

Check for damage
Check for damages, such as scratches, general wear, uneven surfaces or incorrect
positions.
The check points are shown in the figure Inspection points, balancing device on
page 118.
ActionCheck points
If damage is detected, perform mainten-
ance according to given instructions in
Maintenance kit, complete.
Check for damage on the part of the pis-
ton rod that is visible at the front of the
balancing device.

Check for leakage
The front ear of the balancing device is lubricated with grease.
Leaks at o-rings, sealings etc. are not acceptable and must be attended to
immediately to avoid damage to the bearing.
