INTRODUCTION
The CAPTUS
®
4000e software runs on the Microsoft Windows
®
operating system and follows
standard Windows
®
interface conventions. If you are familiar with running Windows
®
based
programs, then you should find the CAPTUS
®
4000e a very user friendly and easy to use
program. If you have never used a Windows
®
based program before, please read the next
section in this chapter carefully. Windows
®
uses very consistent techniques for user
interaction. These techniques are visual and generally oriented toward use of a pointing
device, such as a mouse or trackball. In most cases there are alternate keyboard techniques
for accomplishing the same task.
The system includes an all-in-one touchscreen computer system. Therefore, selections
throughout the program can be made using the included pointing device, your finger or a
Stylus.

Common Controls and Techniques
The CAPTUS
®
4000e, like all Windows based programs, is task oriented. Each task to be
performed will consist of one or more dialog boxes, similar to that shown in Figure 3-1. Each
screen will have various controls on it, which perform functions when selected with the
pointing device or when selected from the keyboard. When you are finished with all of the
tasks on a given screen, selecting the Done or Exit button will return you to the previous
screen.
