1. General
Risk of accident! The cylinder cover may be lifted or transported only with tools
94265 and 94265a as shown in Fig. ’B’ and ’C’.
2. Removal of cylinder cover
⇒ Drain the cylinder cooling water (see Operating Manual 8017−1).
⇒ Disconnect all the connections to the cylinder cover and to the exhaust valve
as well as the expansion piece between exhaust valve and exhaust manifold.
⇒ Loosen and remove the nuts of the cylinder cover studs (see 2708−2).
⇒ Screw spec. eye nuts 94265a onto the studs 4 of the exhaust valve cage.
⇒ Lift complete cylinder cover 1 with the crane and suspension device 94265
(see Fig. ’C’).
3. Fitting of cylinder cover
Before placing the cylinder cover in position the following points must be taken
care of:
D The compression space must be absolutely free of foreign particles or dirt.
D The seating surfaces on cylinder cover and cylinder liner must be clean and
undamaged.
D A new soft iron joint ring 8 of 2 mm thickness must be placed on the cylinder
liner in such a way that it lies flat all over.
D The inner surface of water guide jacket 2 which is screw fastened to the cylin-
der cover as well as the respective guide surface at the collar of the lower wa-
ter guide jacket must be clean and smeared with oil.
