3. Fitting the guide shoes
The two guide shoes of a crosshead are the same. However, shims 7 to guide rails
6 can show different thicknesses, and therefore the guide shoes have to be refitted
at the same place after a removal.
Removal and fitting of a crosshead pin 1 is only possible with dismantled guide
shoes 2 and have to be carried out as described in 3326−2.
⇒ First loosen screws 8 and remove holding plate 3 prior to the dismantling of a
guide shoe.
⇒ After the assembly of the guide shoe, the holding plate has to be fitted so that it
mates with the corresponding groove in the crosshead pin.
⇒ Fit both screws 8 with the locking plate (Fig. ’C’).
After tightening check with feeler gauge 94238 that there is no clearance between
the collar of the holding plate and the guide shoe.
⇒ Fit guide rail 6 with shims 7.
