2.3 Dismantling and assembling of exhaust valve control unit
⇒ Loosen Allen screws 11 and remove cover 10.
⇒ Remove compression spring 12 and slide rod 13.
⇒ Loosen pan head screw 9 and withdraw sealing flange 7.
Check piston and slide rod for smooth sliding.
D Provide new O-ring & back-up ring 8 (note fitting position as shown below)
smeared with oil.
D Sealing flange 7 must be flush in relation to valve control block 4.
D Orifice 19 is properly designated with ’48/50’ (Fig. ’B’).
⇒ Equally tighten Allen screws 11 with a torque of 40 Nm.
⇒ Fit rail valve 20 with Allen screws 21 and tighten them with a torque of 2.5 Nm.
2.4 Cleaning the filter
⇒ Loosen and remove filter holder 15 and clean oil filter 18 (Fig. ’B’).
Remark: Maintain the flow direction when refitting or replacing the oil filter. More-
over, the three oil filters must be secured by means of circlip 17.
⇒ Apply oil to filter holder 15 and tighten it with a torque of 225 Nm.

3. Storage and handling of exhaust valve control unit
Store an exhaust valve control unit in a dry place but not in a place contaminated
with exhaust gases or any other corrosive atmosphere. Keep the unit in its original
packing. Handle with care when preparing for use and avoid any hard contact
against other objects.
Attention! Do not open vacuum packed unit before the installation on the engine.
For cleaning use white spirit, e.g. Shellsol TD, Shellsol T or Solvent FP68. Always
wear gloves and safety goggles with closed side frame!
