4. Dismantling of a piston
Fit two jacking screws M27x2 into the two opposite tapholes ’GB’ in the piston
rod head and drive them in till they press against the centring screws (Fig. ’D’).
Equally tighten the two jacking screws in small steps, till the piston crown is
separated from the piston rod.
D When raising piston crown take particular care not to damage spraying
nozzles 2a.
Remove both jacking screws from piston rod head.
Should waisted studs 5 have to be removed/refitted from/to the piston crown, tools
like a pipe wrench etc. which would damage the bolt shank must never be used!
Following the removal of piston crown separate piston skirt 3 from piston rod 4 as
described below:
Loosen and remove both screws 9 (Fig. ’F’).
Using two jacking screws 94364 (Fig. ’E’) the piston skirt can be separated
from the piston rod.
D While raising the piston skirt pay attention that spring dowel pin 10 does not
jam (Fig. ’F’).
For the removal of spraying plate with oil pipe 2 loosen and remove first screws 11
with bushes 10. The spraying plate with oil pipe can then be pulled as a complete
unit from piston rod 4.
Attention! Do not damage the spraying nozzles.
5. Assembling of a piston
For assembling the piston the following points must be observed:
D Damaged spraying nozzles 2a may under no circumstances be reused.
New ones must be fitted with liquid securing agent LOCTITE No. 0270, using
the appropriate tools, and the pipes must be additionally secured by a centre
punch (see detail I, Fig. ’F’).
D Whenever possible always use new O-rings, they must conform in dimen-
sions and quality to our specifications (see 0370−1).
D All cylindrical guide portions and O-rings must be smeared with oil before
the assembly.
D No additional lubricant must be applied to the threads of waisted screws 11.
Fasten spraying plate with oil pipe 2 to piston rod 4 by means of bushes 10 and
screws 11 (thread oiled). Pre-tighten the latter with 15 Nm using a torque wrench
and then tighten them to an angle of 40_.
D Attention must be paid to spring dowel pin 6 when assembling a piston skirt 3
with a piston rod 4.
Fit and tighten both screws 9.
D For the assembly of piston crown 1 with piston rod 4 make sure that the two
centring screws 8 (Fig. ’F’), serving as guides, mate with the corresponding
bores in the piston skirt 3 and the piston rod.
D Tension waisted studs 5 according to section 3.
