– Local, TACACS+, None — Authentication first occurs locally. If authentication cannot be
verified locally, the TACACS+ server authenticates the management method. If the TACACS+
server cannot authenticate the management method, the session is permitted.

authentication cannot be verified at the TACACS+ server, the session is authenticated locally. If
the session cannot be authenticated locally, the session is permitted.
Applying an Authentication Method List to Console Sessions
1. Open the Select Authentication page.
2. Select an authentication profile in the Console field.
3. Click Apply Changes .
Console sessions are assigned an authentication method List.
Applying an Authentication Profile to Telnet Sessions
1. Open the Select Authentication page.
2. Select an authentication profile in the Telnet field.
3. Click Apply Changes .
Console sessions are assigned authentication profiles.
Applying an Authentication Profile to Secure Telnet (SSH) Sessions
1. Open the Select Authentication page.
2. Select an authentication profile in the Secure Telnet (SSH) field.
3. Click Apply Changes .
Secure Telnet (SSH) sessions are assigned authentication profiles.
Assigning HTTP Sessions an Authentication Sequence
1. Open the Select Authentication page.
2. Under HTTP , select an authentication method in the Optional Methods field and click the right
arrow button.
The selected authentication method moves to the
Selected Methods field.
3. Repeat until the desired authentication sequence is displayed in the Selected Methods field.
4. Click Apply Changes .
HTTP sessions are assigned the authentication sequence.
