CHAPTER 52
Initial Setup
52.1 Overview
This chapter identifies tasks you might want to do when you first configure the OLT. It gives examples on
password and privilege management, concurrent logins, changing management IP addresses, and
checking device configurations.
52.2 Changing the Administrator Password
Note: It is recommended you change the administrator password from the default.
Use this command to change the administrator password.
admin-password <pw-string> <Confirm-string>
where <pw-string> may be 1-32 alphanumeric characters long.
52.3 Changing the Enable Password
Every command has a privilege level (0-14). Users can run a command if the session’s privilege level is
greater than or equal to the command’s privilege level. The session’s privilege level initially comes from
the login account’s privilege level. The admin account has a privilege level of 14, so the administrator
can run every command. You can create other accounts with lower privilege levels. The enable
command raises a session’s privilege level to 14. The enable command is available in user mode or
enable mode, and users have to know the enable password.
Note: It is recommended you change the default enable password.
Use password <password> to change the enable password. The <password> may be 1-32
alphanumeric characters long.
