96.1 Overview
This chapter gives details on configuring remote ONTs. See Chapter 53 on page 405 for basic examples
of provisioning subscriber interfaces on an ONT or MDU.

A GPON network contains mainly active transmission equipment, namely the Optical Line Termination
(OLT) at the service provider's central office and the Optical Network Unit (ONU) or Optical Network
Termination (ONT) near end users.
96.3 ONT
The OLT supports registering a remote ONT when the PON link state is active. You can set the OLT to
activate a remote ONT according to its serial number and password.
