Chapter 76 Multicast
OLT2406 User’s Guide
543
The following table describes the commands for IGMP snooping VLAN.
76.7 MVR Overview
Multicast VLAN Registration (MVR) is designed for applications (Such as Media-on-Demand (MoD)) that
use multicast traffic across an Ethernet ring-based service provider network.
MVR allows one single multicast VLAN to be shared among different subscriber VLANs on the network.
While isolated in different subscriber VLANs, connected devices can subscribe to and unsubscribe from
the multicast stream in the multicast VLAN. This improves bandwidth utilization with reduced multicast
traffic in the subscriber VLANs and simplifies multicast group management.
MVR only responds to IGMP join and leave control messages from multicast groups that are configured
under MVR. Join and leave reports from other multicast groups are managed by IGMP snooping.
The following figure shows a network example. The subscriber VLAN (1, 3, and 4) information is hidden
from the streaming media server, S. In addition, the multicast VLAN information is only visible to the OLT
and S.
Table 278 IGMP Snooping VLAN Commands
COMMAND DESCRIPTION M P
show igmp-snooping vlan
Displays the VLANs on which IGMP snooping is
enabled.
E3
igmp-snooping vlan mode
<auto|fixed>
Specifies how the VLANs on which the OLT
snoops IGMP packets are selected.
auto: The OLT learns multicast group
membership on any VLAN. The OLT drops any
IGMP control messages on other VLANs after it
reaches this maximum number (auto mode).
fixed: The OLT only learns multicast group
membership on specified VLAN(s). The OLT
drops any IGMP control messages for any
unspecified VLANs (fixed mode).
C13
igmp-snooping vlan <vlan-id>
Specifies which VLANs to perform IGMP
snooping on if the mode is fixed. Optionally,
sets a name for the multicast VLAN.
C13
no igmp-snooping vlan <vlan-id>
Removes IGMP snooping configuration on the
specified VLAN if the mode is fixed.
C13
clear multicast vlan all
Removes all multicast VLAN counters. E 3
clear multicast vlan <vid>
Removes multicast VLAN counter of the
specified VLAN.
