CHAPTER 53
Provisioning User Interfaces
53.1 Overview
This chapter gives basic examples of provisioning subscriber data interfaces on an ONT or MDU. See
Section 78.8 on page 574 for an example of provisioning a ONT subscriber VoIP port. See Chapter 96 on
page 657 for more details on configuring remote ONTs.
53.2 ONT Subscriber Port Provisioning Example Overview
Here is an outline of how to provision a subscriber port on an ONT. You must also have the uplink slot
configured as described in Section 52.9 on page 404.
1 Activate the slot containing the PON card.
2 Configure the PON port with the correct transceiver type.
3 Register the ONT on the OLT.
4 Configure the QoS ingress profile and bandwidth profiles.
5 Associate the bandwidth profiles with the ONT.
6 Configure and enable the card on the ONT.
7 Configure and enable a subscriber port on the ONT.
8 Configure a VLAN with the PON port and uplink port as fixed members.
9 Configure the subscriber port’s QoS and VLAN settings.
See Section 109.1 on page 728 for GPON card status troubleshooting.
After you have a subscriber port configured and working properly, you can use FTP to get the
configuration file (See Chapter 84 on page 607) and configure other subscriber ports in a text editor.
53.3 ONT Subscriber Port Provisioning Example
This example configures Ethernet port 1 on ONT 101 connected to GPON port 1 in slot 6 on the OLT.
1 Set the slot containing the GPON card to use a GPON card and enable the slot.
