Chapter 10 Machine Overview
10.1 Print Process
10-6
[Transfer]
This step transfers a toner image generated on the drum surface onto paper using the BTR (Bias
Transfer Roll) in the BTR ASSY.
- The BTR, that is a conductive roller, comes into contact with the drum, and receives the high
voltage from the HVPS.
The BTR applies plus charge on the back of paper when paper moves between the BTR and the
drum.
The toner image on the drum surface is drawn to plus charge on the back of paper, and it is
transferred to the surface of paper.
Paper is then drawn to minus charge induced into the conductive layer of the drum, and fixed to
the drum surface.
[Peeling]
This step peels paper from the drum surface by the Detack Saw.
- The Detack Saw applies minus charge on the back of paper by high voltage supplied from the
HVPS to neutralize plus charge applied in the [transfer] step.
The force that fixes paper on the drum surface is then eliminated, and paper is peeled from the
drum surface by the restoration force from transformation.
