Overview
3-1-1 Purpose of Chapter 3
This chapter provides instructions for installing the Vivid S5 N and Vivid S6 N Ultrasound system. Before
beginning the installation process, an appropriate site must be prepared, as described in Chapter 2.
Once the site has been prepared, installation can proceed as described in this chapter.
Included in this chapter are guidelines for transporting the unit to a new site, as well as procedures that
describe how to receive and unpack the equipment, and (if necessary) how to file a damage or loss
claim. Instructions for checking and testing the unit, probes, and external peripherals for electrical safety
are also provided.
NOTE: As described in ‘Installation Acceptance Test Criteria” on page 3-192, a Vivid S5 N / Vivid S6 N
ultrasound scanner is ready for use after the system has been configured successfully in
accordance with the information provided in Chapter 3 (this chapter).
NOTE: Depending on the customer’s specific requirements, the Vivid S5 N or Vivid S6 N portable
ultrasound scanner will have been supplied. Where applicable, the installation procedures for
each scenario are clearly identified in this chapter.
