PRELIMINARY
8-3-1-4 Monitor Installation Procedure
NOTE: When performing the following installation procedure steps, it may be helpful to review the movie clip
previously referenced in the Monitor Removal Procedure.
1) Working from the front of the system, make sure the console is in the maximum down position and
that is aligned in the central position (not pulled to one side or the other).
2.) Using two hands, carefully lift a new monitor onto the system, placing it perpendicular to the
keyboard (against the mounting bracket on the support column) while aligning the screw holes with
the holes in the bracket - refer to Figure 8-31.
3.) Return and fasten the four Phillips screws (previously removed) to properly secure the monitor to
the support column - refer to Figure 8-31.
Note: Before performing the next step, check the DVI cable and make sure there are no bent pins
on the connector - see Figure 8-32.
4.) Reconnect the DVI cable and the Data cable to the monitor (fasten securely in position using the
two screws on each side of the cables) - refer to Figure 8-30 on page 8-28.
5.) Return the LCD rear cover to the monitor by sliding it upwards from the rear until it clicks into
position - refer to Figure 8-29 on page 8-27.
6.) Return and fasten the two Phillips screws to secure the LCD rear to the rear of the monitor
(see Figure 8-28).
7) Working from the left or right of the support column, push the locking pin in to secure the monitor in
the locked position - refer to Figure 8-27 on page 8-26.
8.) Adhere the appropriate Vivid S5 N or Vivid S6 N system label to the rear of the monitor.
9.) Set the appropriate LCD type, as described in 6-1-2-7 "Display Type Setup" on page 6-8.
10.)Proceed to perform the following functionality tests:
- “Grounding Continuity” on page 10-23
- “Chassis Current Leakage Test” on page 10-24
- “Monitor Movement Test” on page 4-36
- “Monitor Test” on page 4-22
11.)For the next stage of the monitor installation procedure, proceed to the instructions for Image
Quality Calibration, as described in Chapter 6 - Service Adjustments.
12.)Complete the procedure by setting the display type, as described in 6-1-2-7 "Display Type Setup"
on page 6-8.
