The maximum rate of IGMP messages is 30 Joins and 30 Leaves per second; therefore, the maximum total IGMP
message rate is 60 per second.
Simultaneous IGMPv2 and IGMPv3 clients on the same mac-domain are not supported.
Simultaneous IGMPv2 ASM and IGMPv3 ASM on the same chassis is not supported.
Simultaneous IGMPv2 ASM and IGMPv3 SSM on the same chassis is not supported.
Note: PIM-SSM and IGMP Proxy cannot be configured on the same network-side interface. Also, some combinations of
DOCSIS Set-top Gateway (DSG) using SSM or ASM are not supported with IGMPv2 or v3 in the same cable-side MAC
domain.
ASM/SSM Configurations
The following are procedures for the C4/c CMTS routing configuration for IGMPv2 Proxy ASM Multicast (IGMPv2 or
IGMPv3 ASM) or SSM Multicast (IGMPv3) using MDF-enabled.
This describes how to configure the C4/c CMTS to track IGMP membership from CPEs on a cable interface. Traffic from a
multicast group (or group and specific multicast source) is requested using either IGMP Proxy or SSM. The multicast traffic
received by the C4/c CMTS on the network-side interfaces is forwarded to the appropriate cable-side interfaces.
This first procedure addresses the IGMPv2 architecture.
ASM Multicast Forwarding
Configure Network to Cable ASM Data Forwarding
1. The IGMPv2 host on the network-side interface is enabled when an interface is configured with an IPv4 address.
Therefore, no command is needed to configure the host on the network side interface.
2. Enable the IGMP router/querier on the cable-mac. Default is IGMPv2.
configure interface cable-mac <mac>.<subif> ip igmp
3. Enable the IGMP router/querier on the cable-mac for IGMPv3.
configure interface cable-mac <mac>.<subif> ip igmp version 3
4. Enable the IGMP primary proxy interface joins received which is used to proxy membership reports on the cable-mac
to be the network-side interface:
