Configuring IP Address Pools
Manual Pool Configuration Considerations
•ThesubnetoftheIPaddressbeingissuedshouldbeonthesamesubnetastheingress
interface(thatis,thesubnetofthehostIPaddressoftheswitch,orifroutinginterfacesare
configured,thesubnetoftheroutinginterface).
•Amanualpoolcanbeconfiguredusingeitherthe
client’shardwareaddress(setdhcppool
hardwareaddress)ortheclient’sclientidentifier(setdhcppoolclientidentifier),butusing
bothisnotrecommended.
•IftheincomingDHCPrequestpacketcontainsaclientidentifier,thenamanualpool
configuredwiththatclientidentifiermustexistontheswitchin
orderfortherequesttobe
processed.Thehardwareaddressisnotchecked.
•Ahardwareaddressandtype(EthernetorIEEE802)configuredinamanualpoolischecked
onlywhenaclientidentifierisnotalsoconfiguredforthepoolandtheincomingDHCP
requestpacketdoesnotincludea
clientidentifieroption.
Purpose
ToconfigureandclearDHCPaddresspoolparameters,andtodisplayaddresspoolconfiguration
information.
