Rear brake lining: Removal - Refitting

a Lightly grease the support linkage thread.
II - REFITTING OPERATION
a Refit:
-the linkage to the trailing shoe while holding it to-
gether with its spring,
-the incremented automatic compensation system
spring to the linkage,
-the parking brake cable to the parking brake lever,
-the leading shoe,
-the incremented automatic compensation system
spring to the leading shoe.
a Fit the leading shoe/trailing shoe assembly to the
back-plate.
a Refit:
-the upper spring,
-the lower spring,
-the side retaining springs while holding the con-
necting rod in contact with the brake back-plate.
a Remove the pliers from the slave cylinder pistons.
a Check that the parking brake cable is correctly posi-
tioned on the parking brake lever.
a Using a screwdriver, adjust the diameter of the
shoes with the linkage to obtain a diameter of 227.5
mm ±±

0.1.
a Carry out the same adjustment on the other side.
a Adjust the handbrake if the lever stops between the
first and second positions of the parking brake le-
ver's travel (see 37A, Mechanical component con-
trols, Parking brake lever: Adjustment, page
37A-30) .
Note:
The brake mechanism components are different
on the left and right-hand sides, so it is important
not to confuse them.
On the left-hand brake: the bolt has a right-hand
thread.
On the right-hand brake: the bolt has a left-hand
thread.
