REAR AXLE COMPONENTS
Rear suspension spring: Removal - Refitting
4X2 TRANSMISSION

a Remove the spring (4) with its lower mounting by re-
moving the component jack.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a Always replace the rear shock absorber lower bolt.
II - REFITTING OPERATION
a Refit:
-the lower mounting on the rear axle (positioning the
guide correctly),
-the spring with its upper mounting in the marked lo-
cation, starting at the top.
a Bring the component jack into contact, using a
shim, under the spring cup.
a Compress the rear axle so that the shock absorber
lower bolt can be refitted.
a Refit the shock absorber lower bolt.
a Torque tighten the shock absorber lower bolt (162
N.m).
a Remove the tool component jack.
a Refit the wheel speed sensor wiring.
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit the rear wheel (see 35A, Wheels and tyres,
Wheel: Removal - Refitting, page 35A-1) .
a Repeat these operations on the opposite side.

If the upper mounting is unclipped, replace it.
