If you enter the wrong security code, the word "PROGRAM" will appear on the top line of
the display, and the word "DISABLE" on the bottom line. If this happens, repeat steps 2
and 3, making sure you enter the correct security code.
Once the proper security code is entered, the name of the first programmable parameter
("PH BIAS") will appear on the top line of the display. The stored bias value (in amperes)
will appear on the bottom line.
4. Press the [.] key to access the keypad.
5. Press the [5], [1], and [ENT] keys to select Parameter #51 ("RS232 BD" - RS-232 Baud Rate).
The parameter name ("RS232 BD") will appear on the top line of the display, with the
baud rate listed on the bottom line.
If you make a mistake entering the parameter number, press the [.] key before you press
the [ENT] key, and then enter the correct parameter number.
6. Once the baud rate parameter is displayed, press the [8] or [0] keys until the desired value is displayed on
the bottom line of the display.
Three values can be selected: 1200 baud (the default setting), 2400 baud, and 9600 baud.
Setting this parameter to 2400 baud will allow communications with most devices.
7. When the desired baud rate value appears on the bottom line of the display, press the [ENT] key.
This will send the new baud rate value to the RFL 93B SV Supervisor Module. The RFL
93B DISPLAY module saves the new setting in its non-volatile memory.
The next parameter (Parameter #52, "RS232 PR" - RS-232 Protocol) will be displayed.
The parameter name ("RS232 PR") will appear on the top line of the display, with the
handshaking method listed on the bottom line.
8. Once the protocol parameter is displayed, press the [8] or [0] keys until the desired value is displayed on
the bottom line of the display.
Two different protocol methods can be selected: "XON/XOFF" (the default setting) and
"RTS/CTS." The RFL 9300 will always transmit an "XON" when activating the RS-232
port, and an "XOFF" when de-activating the port. This will occur about every 100 ms,
with the port activated for about 68 ms of the 100-ms period.
The RTS line will be activated every 100 ms for about 60 ms. If Parameter #52 is set for
RTS/CTS handshaking, the CTS line must be active in order for the RS-232 port to be
made functional.
9. When the desired protocol method appears on the bottom line of the display, press the [ENT] key.
This will send the new protocol method to the RFL 93B SV Supervisor Module. The RFL
93B DISPLAY module saves the new setting in its non-volatile memory.
10. Press the [.] key, followed by the [0] and [ENT] keys.
The word "EXIT" will appear on the top line of the display, with the word "DISABLE" on
the bottom line.
11. Press the [8] key.
The word "ENABLE" will appear on the bottom line of the display.
