CAUTION
Make sure the power switch on the RFL 9300's power supply module is in the OFF position be-
fore attempting to remove or replace any circuit board module or I/O module. System perform-
ance cannot be guaranteed if modules are removed or replaced with the power supply ener-
gized.
28.3 REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT
The following paragraphs provide procedures to be used when removing and replacing RFL 9300 circuit board
modules and I/O modules.
28.3.1 CIRCUIT BOARD MODULES
RFL 9300 circuit board modules are mounted bookshelf-style at the front of the RFL 9300 chassis. Each module
is held in place by card guides at the top and bottom of the chassis.
CAUTION
Each module position in the front of the RFL 9300 is keyed to accept a specific module type, as
indicated by a label along the front of the chassis. Modules can be damaged if they are in-
stalled in the wrong chassis slot. When removing and replacing modules, use the label in the
chassis as a guide to make sure each module is in the proper slot.
To remove any of these circuit board modules, proceed as follows:
1. Lower the front cover of the RFL 9300.
2. Place the POWER switch on the power supply module in the OFF position.
3. Lower the red lever at the front of the module until the module connector disengages with the mother-
board connector.
4. Slide the module out of the chassis.
To replace a circuit board module, proceed as follows:
1. Using the label along the front of the chassis as a guide, determine the slot in the chassis where the
module is to be installed.
2. Line up the edges of the module circuit board with the card guides in the chassis.
3. Place the red lever in the full up position.
4. Slide the module into the chassis and press firmly until its connector is fully engaged with the mother-
board connector.
5. Place the POWER switch on the power supply module in the ON position.
