13.1 DESCRIPTION
The RFL 93B CC Communications Controller Module (Fig. 13-1) regulates all messages sent from one RFL
9300 to another. The communications can be any one of the following:
1. 7.2-Kbps data using the RFL 93B MO Modem Module.
2. 56-Kbps or 64-Kbps data using the RFL 93 DD Direct Digital I/O Module.
3. 56-Kbps or 64-Kbps data using the RFL 93 FT/FR fiber optic I/O module.
During turn-on, the RFL 93B CC module learns the RFL 9300's communication configuration. It does this by
measuring the clock rate, testing control lines, and reading the strap settings on the RFL 93B SV Supervisor
Controller Module. It then uses this information to control communications.
13.2 CONTROLS AND INDICATORS
Figure 13-2 shows the location of all controls and indicators on the RFL 93B CC Communications Controller
Module. These controls and indicators are described below. Those described as front-panel controls are acces-
sible with the RFL 93B CC installed in the RFL 9300 chassis; all others are only accessible when the RFL 93B
CC is removed from the chassis, or is on a card extender.
