The DC RESTORE signal is normally held high for steady-state power system currents. During disturbances
that contain a dc component, the phase controller module drops DC RESTORE low. This closes section D of
analog switch U4 and shorts out capacitor C3. Since the circuit is basically operating open-loop, there must be
some form of dc stability around the overall loop. The output of the current-to-voltage converter is fed back
through a voltage divider formed from resistors R28 and R29. Resistor R24 and capacitor C3 form a low pass
filter. This filter strips out the ac component, and provides dc feedback to sense amplifier U1.
During disturbances with a dc component, the phase controller module modulates the DC RESTORE line. This
allows reproduction of the transient without charging C3 to a false dc level that could saturate sense amplifier
U1.
