CC Communications Controller This is a front panel module on the 9300 that performs the logic and
signal processing related to the relay-to-relay communications.

CCITT CCITT Consultative Committee on International Telegraphy and Telephony.
The CCITT is one of four permanent parts of the International Tele-
communications Union (ITU) based in Geneva Switzerland.
CCITT X.21 A CCITT standard for interfacing between data terminal equipment
(DTE) and data circuit equipment (DCE) for synchronous operation on
public switched telephone networks.
CCITT V.29 A CCITT standard for 9600 bits per second modem for use on point-to-
point leased circuits
CCS Charge Comparison System The name given to the 9300 relay.
CCT Charge Comparison Trip Charge Comparison Trip
CCTU CCTU Charge Comparison Trip Ultimate
CDC Channel Delay Compensation This is the number of milliseconds that the 9300 relay assigns to the
received channel path. For example, if the CDC is 4-ms, this means
that the local relay thinks that the received communications signal took
4 milliseconds to get from the remote relay to the local relay. Ideally
the CDC should be exactly equal to the CDT (defined below), but the
concept of charge comparison is very tolerant of imprecise compensa-
tion (i.e., where CDC is not exactly equal to CDT).
CDT Channel Delay Time (Actual) This is the actual delay experienced by the communications message
transmitted by the remote relay and received by the local relay. (See
the previous discussion of CDC).

DC Display Controller This is a front panel module on the 9300 that displays messages on the
LED readout and has a key pad to enable an operator to enter com-
mands. It also has LED’s to indicate trips and DTT send and receive
conditions.
