PPI Ping Pong Initiate This is a special message that is transmitted once per second. PPI tells
the receiving terminal to send back another message called PPR de-
fined below. The PPI and PPR messages enable a round trip or “loop
back” measurement of the channel delay time. This measurement is
called “Ping-Pong” a term taken from the modem industry.
PPR Ping Pong Response PPR is a signal triggered by a received PPI. See the preceding defini-
tion of PPI.
