Installingthegatevalve
Thegatevalvemustbemountedsothatitstopmatingsurfaceisinparallelwiththesea
surfaceduringnormaloperatingconditions.Thetransducerdockontopofthegatevalve
mustremainverticalduringthesameconditions.
Prerequisites
Thistaskmusttakeplaceindrydock.Theshipyardmustprovideallnecessarytoolsand
manpower.Thefollowingspecicitemsarerequiredforthistask.
•Siliconegrease
•Anti-seizelubricant
•Torquewrench
•Liftingarrangement
•O-ring
•Mountinghardware
Note
Thegatevalveisheavy.Appropriateliftingequipment(liftingtackle,portablecraneor
ship’ scrane)isrequired.Alwaysuseappropriateliftingequipmenttominimizeriskof
personnelinjuryorequipmentdamages.Onlycertiedequipmentmustbeused.
Itisassumedthatthemountingangehasbeeninstalledcorrectly.
Context
Onlythebasicstepsofthetaskareoffered.Additionalprocedureswithmoreinformation
and/ordetailsmustbeprovidedbytheinstallationshipyardtotthevesselproperties.
Thetopmatingsurfaceofthegatevalvemustbeprotectedwithawoodencoverat
alltimesuntilthetransducerdockisinstalled.Itisveryimportantthatthissurfaceis
cleanandundamaged,becauseitmustbewatertightafterthetransducerdockhasbeen
installed.
Procedure
1Attachthenecessarytacklestothegatevalve,andmakesurethattheunitislifted
withthecorrectsideup.
Thegatevalvewillworkinanyposition,butwerecommendthatitismountedwith
itsidenticationtagsandclassicationmarkingsfacingup.Y oumustalsoconsider
theaccesstotheendswitches,and(ifrelevant)thehydraulichoseconnections.
