AvisualinspectionoftheST90ProcessorUnitisrequiredtoverifythattheunithasnot
beenphysicallydamagedduringtheinstallation.
Prerequisites
TheST90isinstalledasspeciedinthismanual.TheST90isturnedoff.Youneed
thefollowingequipment:
•Multimeter
Procedure
1Makesurethatthecomputerisinstalledinthecorrectlocation,andthatitissuitably
orientedforreplacementandcabling.
2Makesurethatthephysicalinstallationoftheunithasbeencompleted.
aMakesurethatyouhavefreeaccesstorearandfrontsideconnectorsonthe
computerformaintenancepurposes.
bMakesurethatamplespaceisprovidedtoopen/closeDVDand/orCDlids(if
relevant),andtoinsertandremoveUSBashdrives.
cIftheunitisinstalledinsidearackorinaclosedcompartment,makesurethat
ampleventilationisprovidedtoavoidoverheating.
dMakesurethatamplespaceisprovidedaroundtheunittoallowfor
maintenanceandreplacementofparts.
eMakesurethatthebolts,screwsorstudsholdingtheunitareofthecorrectsize.
fMakesurethatthecorrectatandshake-proofwashershavebeenused.
gMakesurethatallnutshavebeentightenedproperly.
hMakesurethatallweldsandbracketshavebeenpaintedwiththecorrect
preservationmediumtopreventcorrosion.
3Makesurethattheunitisnotphysicallydamaged,andthatthepaint-workisclean
withoutdentsorscratches.
Thephysicalhandlingoftheunitduringtheinstallationmayhavecausedsome
minorscratchestothepaint-work.Thiscanbeaccepted.However,ifrough
handlinghascausedseriousdamagetotheunit,thismustberecordedwithawritten
statementandnecessaryphotos,sothatcorrectiveactionscanbemade.
4Makesurethattheunitisrmlyconnectedtoship'sground.
aMakesurethattheunitissecurelyconnectedtotheship'sgroundwithan
earthingstrap.Thestrapmustbeinadditiontoanyincidentalelectricalcontact
madebythemountinglugsontheunit.
bUseastandardmultimetertocheckthattheresistancebetweentheunitandthe
ship'sgroundisapproximately0(zero)Ω.
5Makesurethatcableinstallationhasbeencompleted.
Settingtowork
