InstallationoftheST90isademandingtaskthatrequirescarefulpreparations,anumber
ofspecicprocedures,wiringandrequiredsystemsettings.
Context
Anoverallinstallationprocedureisprovided.Thisproceduredoesnotdescribeany
detailedtasks.Refertotherelevanttasksinthismanual.
Note
InordertoobtainmaximumsafetyandST90performance,itisveryimportantthatthe
installationproceduresinthismanualarecompliedto.Youmustdothetasksintheorder
theyaredescribed.Thevesselownermustmakesurethattheinstallationshipyardholds
theapplicablecompetencetoperformtheinstallation,andthattheapplicablemaritime
authoritiesareavailabletoverifyandcertifytheinstallation.
Thesize,locationanddesignofthesonarroommustfullalltherequirementstothe
vessel’ swatertightintegrity.Intheeventofamajorleak,itmustbepossibletocloseall
watertighthatchesand/ordoorstotheroomtomaintainvesselstabilityandsafety.The
physicalsizeofthesonarroommustbelimited,sothatintheeventofamajorleak,the
oodingoftheroomwillnotinduceinstability,orcausethevesseltocapsizeorsink.
Ifrequired,alldocumentsprovidedbytheshipyardforthephysicalinstallationofthe
ST90mustbeapprovedbythevessel’snationalregistryandcorrespondingmaritime
authorityand/orclassicationsociety.Suchapprovalmustbeobtainedbeforethe
installationcanbegin.Theshipownerandshipyarddoingtheinstallationareresponsible
forobtainingandpayingforsuchapproval.

belocated.
Necessaryconsiderationsmustbetakentoavoidacousticandelectricdisturbances.

Theinformationinthisdocumentmustberegardedasgeneralguidelinesand

installationhardwaretotthetransducertoeachindividualvessel.Whenever
required,theinstallationshipyardmustalsohavethetransducerinstallation
approvedbytheapplicablemaritimeauthorities.
