Cleaningthehullunit
Thehullunithasnormallybeenexposedtoasaltatmosphere.Priortostorageand/or
shipment,itmustbethoroughlycleanedtopreventcorrosion.
Prerequisites
Inordertocleanthehullunit,youwillneedrelevanttoolsanddetergents.
Context
Forallpracticalpurposes,thehullunitcomprisestoseparateareas;the“wetparts”
andthe“dryparts”.
•The“wetparts”includethelowerpartofthetransducershaft,theinstallationtrunk,
thebottomofthemountingange,thezincanodesandthetransducer.Thesepartsare
allexposedtothesea.
•The“dryparts”aretherestofthehullunit,allcontainedinsidethehull.Thisincludes
theelectricmotorandtheMotorControlUnit.
Atransducermustalwaysbehandledasadelicateinstrument.Incorrectactionsmay
damagethetransducerbeyondrepair.
Observethesetransducerhandlingrules:
•Donotactivatethetransducerwhenitisoutofthewater.
•Donothandlethetransducerroughlyandavoidimpacts.
•Donotexposethetransducertodirectsunlightorexcessiveheat.
•Donotusehigh-pressurewater,sandblasting,metaltoolsorstrongsolventstoclean
thetransducerface.
•Donotdamagetheouterprotectiveskinofthetransducer.
Procedure
1Washthe“wetparts”ofthehullunitusingahigh-pressurehoseandcopious
amountsoffreshwater.
Caution
Donotusedirectthehighpressurewaterdirectlytowardsthetransducer.Observe
thehandlingrules!
