Inspectingthetransducer
Whilethevesselisstillindrydock,thetransducersurfacemustbeinspectedforpotential
damagethatmayhavebeeninictedduringtheinstallation.
Prerequisites
TheST90isinstalledasspeciedintheST90Installationmanual.TheST90isturned
off.Thevesselisindrydock.Neithertoolsnorinstrumentsarerequired.Ifyound
damage,youneedahighresolutioncameratodocumentit.
Context
Thetransduceriscoveredwithathickredprotectivecoatingmadeofaspecialplastic
type.Theredprotectivecoatingisanvitalpartofthetransducer.Itisveryimportantthat
neitherthiscoatingnortheinternalpartsofthetransduceraredamagedduringthe
handling,installationorcleaning.Anyholesand/orscratchesinthetransducersurface
willallowwatertopenetratethetransducer.Ifaleakoccurs,thetransducermustbe
replaced.
Procedure
1Lowerthetransducerusingthehandcrank.
aLocatethehandcrankinsidetheMotorControlUnit.
bRemovethehandcrankfromitsstorageposition.
cRemovetheplasticplugonthetopcoverofthehullunit.
dMountthehandcrankontothestubshaftthroughtheholeinthetopcover.
eLocatethebrakereleasescrewonthemotor.
fUsean4mmAllenkeytorotatethescrewclockwiseuntilthemotorbrakeis
released.
gUsethehandcranktolowerthetransducer.
2Doathoroughvisualinspectionofthetransducer.
Checkfordents,scratches,holesorotherdamagetothesurface.
Note
Itisveryimportantthatneitherthiscoatingnortheinternalpartsofthetransducer
aredamagedduringthehandling,installationorcleaning.Anyholesand/or
scratchesinthetransducersurfacewillallowwatertopenetratethetransducer.If
aleakoccurs,thetransducermustbereplaced.
3Ifyoususpectdamage,takeahighresolutionphoto.
4ContactyourdealerortheSimradsupportorganizationforadvice.
5Usethehandcranktohoistthetransducer.
