AvisualinspectionoftheTransceiverUnitisrequiredtoverifythattheunithasnotbeen
physicallydamagedduringtheinstallation.
Prerequisites
TheST90isinstalledasspeciedinthismanual.TheST90isturnedoff.Youneed
thefollowingequipment:
•Multimeter
Procedure
1MakesurethattheTransceiverUnitisinstalledinthecorrectlocation,andthatitis
suitablyorientedforeasymaintenanceandreplacementofparts.
2MakesurethattheTransceiverUnitisfullypopulatedwithallcircuitboardsand
modulesmounted.
3Makesurethatthephysicalinstallationoftheunithasbeencompleted.
aMakesurethatthestructuretowhichthedisplayisfastenedissubstantial
enoughtoholdtheunitsecurelyunderalloperatingconditions.
bMakesurethatthecabinetdoorcanbefullyopenedforunrestrictedaccess.
cMakesurethatamplespaceisprovidedaroundtheunittoallowfor
maintenanceandreplacementofparts.
dMakesurethatthebolts,screwsorstudsholdingtheunitareofthecorrectsize.
eMakesurethatthecorrectatandshake-proofwashershavebeenused.
fMakesurethatallnutshavebeentightenedproperly.
gMakesurethattheweldsandsupportbracketstowhichtheTransceiverUnitis
fastenedaresubstantialenoughtoholdtheunitsecurelyunderalloperating
conditions.
hMakesurethatallweldsandbracketshavebeenpaintedwiththecorrect
preservationmediumtopreventcorrosion.
4Makesurethattheunitisnotphysicallydamaged,andthatthepaint-workisclean
withoutdentsorscratches.
Thephysicalhandlingoftheunitduringtheinstallationmayhavecausedsome
minorscratchestothepaint-work.Thiscanbeaccepted.However,ifrough
handlinghascausedseriousdamagetotheunit,thismustberecordedwithawritten
statementandnecessaryphotos,sothatcorrectiveactionscanbemade.
5Makesurethattheunitisrmlyconnectedtoship'sground.
aMakesurethattheunitissecurelyconnectedtotheship'sgroundwithan
earthingstrap.Thestrapmustbeinadditiontoanyincidentalelectricalcontact
madebythemountinglugsontheunit.
