9Placeasuitablysizedbagofdesiccantmaterial(silicagelorsimilar)intotheunit
tokeeptheelectroniccomponentsasdryaspossible.
10Closethecabinetrmlybeforestorageand/orshipment.
11Secureandprotectlooseparts(shockabsorbers,plugandsockets,protruding
objectsetc).
12Iftheelectroniccabinetshallbesenttostorageorshipped,sprayitexternallyusing
acorrosioninhibitor(forexamplealightoil)priortopacking.
Cleaningamechanicalorelectromechanicalunit
Ifanmechanicalunithasbeenexposedtossaltatmosphere,itmustbethoroughly
cleanedtopreventcorrosion.
Prerequisites
Inordertocleanamechanicalorelectromechanicalunit,youwillneedrelevanttools
anddetergents.
Procedure
1Wipeofftheexternalsurfacesofthemechanicalunitusingadamplintfreecloth
andamilddetergent.
Note
Donotuseexcessiveamountsofwater .Theunitmayincludepartsthatarenot
watertight.
2Oncompletion,drytheunitthoroughly.
3Inspectallsurfacesforsignsofcorrosion,aking,bubblingpaint,stainsetc.
4Cleandamagedorsuspectareas,prepareandpreservetheseareasusingthecorrect
preservationmediums.
5Wipecleanallexposedcables,andcheckfordamage.
Ifacableshowssignsofwearorageing,contactKongsbergMaritimeforadvice.
6Secureandprotectlooseparts(shockabsorbers,plugandsockets,protruding
objectsetc).
