Selectingthebestpossiblelocationforthehullunitisofvitalimportancefortheoverall
ST90performance.Thehullunitlocationmustbeselectedbyaskilledengineerwith
experienceinsonartheoryandhullunitinstallation.Simradwillassistifrequired.

behandledseparatelydependingonthehulldesign.
ThephysicallocationoftheST90hullunitdependsonthevessel'sdesignand
construction,howthehullisshaped,andhowthewaterrunsalongthehull.Observethe
followingconsiderations:
1Thesonarroomchosenforthehullunitlocationmustbeaccessibleunderall
conditions.
2Theaccesstothesonarroommustbelargeenoughtoallowinstallationandremoval
ofthehullunitwithoutdisassemblingit.
3Heatingisaneffectivemethodforreducinghumidity.Theheaterinthesonarroom
mustdimensionedtomaintaintheequipmentwithinitsenvironmentaltolerances.
Typicalheatingpowerisminimum1000W.Theheatermustbeinstalledcloseto
thedeck.
4Ifitisnotpossibletoconnectthesonarroomtothevessel'sbilgepumpsystem,a
separatebilgepumpforthecompartmentmustbeinstalled.
5Thesonarroommustbeconnectedtothevessel'sventilationsystemtoensurea
supplyofcoolingair.Ifthevesselislikelytooperateintropicalconditions,anair
dehumidierisstronglyrecommendedtoreducethelikelihoodofcorrosiondueto
condensation.
