Cleaninganelectroniccabinetorunit
Ifanelectroniccabinethasbeenexposedtosaltatmosphere,itmustbethoroughly
cleanedbothinternallyandexternallytopreventcorrosion.
Prerequisites
Inordertocleananelectroniccabinetorunit,youwillneedrelevanttoolsanddetergents.
Youwillalsoneedsomeamountofdesiccantmaterial.
Procedure
1Wipeofftheexternalsurfacesoftheunitusingadamplintfreeclothandamild
detergent.
Note
Donotuseexcessiveamountsofwater .Theunitmaynotbewatertight.
2Oncompletion,drytheunitthoroughly.
3Inspectallsurfacesforsignsofcorrosion,aking,bubblingpaint,stainsetc.
4Cleandamagedorsuspectareas,prepareandpreservetheseareasusingthecorrect
preservationmediums.
5Opentheunit.
6Useadedicatedvacuumcleanerwithanantistaticnozzletoremovealldustfrom
insidetheunit.
Note
Useextremecarewithdelicatecircuitboardsandunits.Makesurethattheseare
notdamagedintheprocess.
7Wipecleanallexposedcables,andcheckfordamage.
Ifacableshowssignsofwearorageing,contactKongsbergMaritimeforadvice.
8Checkiftheunitcontainsbatteries.
Iftheunitcontainsbatteries,thesemaydischargeslowlyduringstorage.Iftheunit
istobestoredforanextendedperiod,disconnectorremoveallinternalbatteries.
Asuitablepieceofinsulatingmaterialcanbeplacedbetweenthebatteryandthe
electricalcontactstopreventelectricaldischarge.Thebatterycanthenremainin
theunit,reducingtheriskofitbeingmisplacedduringthestorageperiod.
