Mechanicalsupportbrackets
Together,thegatevalve,transducerdockandhullunitformatallandheavyconstruction.
Duetoitsheightandweight,thisconstructionmustbesecuredtothebulkheadbymeans
ofmechanicalsupportbrackets.Thedimensionsandstrengthofthesupportbrackets
mustbeadequatetopreventvortexinducedvibration.Thisarequirementtoensurethe
safetyoftheST90andthevessel.
Theforcestowhichthegatevalve,
transducerdockandhullunitareexposed
dependsonthephysicalsizeofthe
completeinstallation,whereitislocated,
andthevessel'sbehaviourinroughsea.
Note
Itisveryimportantthattheentire
installationissufcientlysupported,asthe
forcesitisexposedtomayaffectboththe
physicalinstallationandthevessel'ssafety.
Themechanicalsupportbracketsmust
bedesignedandmanufacturedbythe
installationshipyardtotthecomplete
installationinthesonarroom.We
recommendthatsupportbracketsareplaced
pointingatminimumthreedirections
withapproximately120degreesbetween
them.Allcalculationsmadetosupport
thedesignmustmeettheapplicablesafety
requirements,andapplytothephysical
propertiesofthehullandtheinstallation.
Note
Thenaldesignandtheinstallationmust
beapprovedbytheclassicationsociety.
Withoutapropermechanicalsupportfor
thehullunitgantry,theguaranteewillbe
void!
