Installingthemountingange
Themountingangemustbemountedsothatitstopmatingsurfaceisinparallelwith
theseasurfaceduringnormaloperatingconditions.Thetransducerdockontopofthe
gatevalvemustremainverticalduringthesameconditions.
Prerequisites
Thistaskmusttakeplaceindrydock.The
shipyardmustprovideallnecessarytools
andmanpower.Thefollowingspecic
itemsarerequiredforthistask.
•Liftingarrangement
•Weldingequipment
Note
Themountingangeisheavy.Alwaysuse
appropriateliftingequipmenttominimize
riskofpersonnelinjuryorequipment
damages.Onlycertiedequipmentmust
beused.
Context
Onlythebasicstepsofthetaskareoffered.Additionalprocedureswithmoreinformation
and/ordetailsmustbeprovidedbytheinstallationshipyardtotthevesselproperties.
Thetopmatingsurfaceofthemountingangemustbeprotectedwithawoodencoverat
alltimesuntilthegatevalveisinstalled.Itisveryimportantthatthissurfaceiscleanand
undamaged,becauseitmustbewatertightafterthegatevalvehasbeeninstalled.
Note
Thequalityoftheweldingiscriticaltothesafetyofthevessel.Weldingmustonlybe
donebyacertiedwelder.Alwayswearthepersonalprotectiveequipment.Observe
andobeytherelevantsafetyinstructions.
Thenalinstallationworkmustbeapprovedbythevessel’ snationalregistry,the
correspondingmaritimeauthorityand/orclassicationsociety.
Procedure
1Denethephysicallocationofthemountingange.
Thislocationmustbecarefullyselected.Thedecisionmustbebasedonthegeneral
principlesoutlinedinchapterPreparationsandallrelevantknowledgeaboutthe
vesselconstruction.
