Inordertooperatecorrectly,theST90requiresinputfromaspeedlog.Thevesselspeed
isshownonthetopbarifyouhaveenabledthisintheDisplayOptionsdialogbox.The
communicationwiththesensoristested.
Prerequisites
Thisprocedureassumesthat:
•ThesensorisconnectedtotheST90.Itisswitchedonandinnormaloperation.
•Theinterfaceportissetupwiththecorrectcommunicationparameters.
•YouarefamiliarwithNMEAandotherrelevantdatagramformats.
•Youknowhowtosetuptheparametersforserialandlocalareanetwork(LAN)
communication.
•Thevesselisberthedoratsea.
•Allrelevantvesseldrawings,installationreportsand/ormeasurementresultsare
available.
•TheST90isturnedon,anditisworkingnormally.
Neithertoolsnorinstrumentsarerequired.
Context
Note
TheinputfromaspeedlogisessentialforST90operation.Withouttheinputfroma
speedlog,theST90willneitherbeabletopresentcorrectnavigationalinformation,nor
compensateforvesselmovements.ThislackofcompensationwillpreventtheST90
fromprovidingcorrectechoinformation.
Inmostcasesasuitablesensorisalreadyinstalledonthevessel.Aglobalpositioning
system(GPS)withacompatibleoutputformatcanalsobeused.
ThepropertiesofeachoftheavailablecommunicationportsaredenedontheI/OSetup
page.TheSensorInstallationpageallowsyourST90tocommunicatewithexternal
sensorsandsystems.Tomakesurethattheinformationfromthe"mostreliable"sensors
areusedbytheST90,usetheSensorCongurationpagetodeneadatagrampriorities.
