Procedure
1Denethephysicallocationoftheinstallationtrunk.
Thislocationmustbecarefullyselected.Thedecisionmustbebasedonthegeneral
principlesoutlinedinchapterPreparationsandallrelevantknowledgeaboutthe
vesselconstruction.
Note
Allinformationrelatedtopracticalandtheoreticalnoisepatternsalongthehull
mustbetakenintoconsideration.
2Notetheorientationofthecentrelineoftheinstallationtrunkwithregardstothe
mountingbolts.
3Removetherubbergasketfromthetopoftheinstallationtrunktoprotectitfrom
theheat.
4Cutoutaholeinthevessel’shullwithadiameterlargeenoughtoaccommodatethe
installationtrunk.
Theexactsizeoftheholemustbedeterminedbytheinstallationshipyard.
5Orientatetheinstallationtrunkcorrectly,andthenwelditintoposition.
Observetheinstallationexamplestoselecttheheightfromthetopofthetrunk
angeanddowntotheundersideoftheprotectionblister.
Important
InordertoobtainoptimalST90performance,thetotalheightoftheinstallation
trunkmustbeascloseaspossibletoitsstatedminimumheight.
Thetopangemustbeparalleltothewaterlineinboththefore-and-aftand
athwartshipdirections.
6Makesurethattheuppersurfaceoftheinstallationtrunkislevel,undamagedand
clean.
7Covertheuppersurfaceoftheinstallationtrunkwithablindangeorwooden
platetoprotectit.
