Theforcestowhichthehullunitis
exposeddependsonthephysicalsizeof
theinstallation,whereitislocated,andthe
vessel'sbehaviourinroughsea.Itisvery
importantthatthehullunitissufciently
supported,astheforcesitisexposedto
mayaffectboththephysicalinstallation
andthevessel'ssafety.

transducerdockandagatevalve,
additionalsupportbracketsmustbe
installedfromthetopofthemounting
angetothebulkhead.

CHullUnit
Themechanicalsupportbracketsmustbedesignedandmanufacturedbytheinstallation
shipyardtotthecompleteinstallationinthesonarroom.Allcalculationsmadeto
supportthedesignmustmeettheapplicablesafetyrequirements,andapplytothe
physicalpropertiesofthehullandtheinstallation.
Werecommendthatsupportbracketsareplacedpointingatminimumthreedirections
withapproximately120degreesbetweenthem.
Note
Thenaldesignandtheinstallationmustbeapprovedbytheclassicationsociety.
Withoutapropermechanicalsupportforthehullunitgantry,theguaranteewillbevoid!
Procedure
1Locatethetwoholesprovidedonthehullunitgantry.
2Design,manufactureandmountpropermechanicalsupportbracketsfromthetopof
thehullunittothebulkhead.
Thedimensionsandstrengthofthesupportbracketsmustbeadequatetoprevent
vortexinducedvibration.
aMountthesupportbracketsusingbolts.
bVerifythatitispossibletoremovethesupportbracketsifmaintenanceis
required.
cVerifythatthetransducercableisnotobstructedbythesupportbrackets.
