1Connectthenavigationsystemtoanavailablecommunicationportonyour
ProcessorUnit.
ThisisdescribedintheCablelayoutandinterconnectionschapter.Observethe
applicablerequirementsrelatedtocabling.Makesurethatthetotallengthofthe
seriallinecabledoesnotexceedapproximately50meters.Ifalongercableis
required,youmayneedtousebufferampliers.IftheProcessorUnitisnottted
withasuitableseriallineconnector,useaUSB-to-serialconverter.Severaltypes
arecommerciallyavailable.
2OpentheSetupmenu.
3OntheSetupmenu,selectInstallation.
ObservethattheInstallationdialogboxopens.Thisdialogboxcontainsanumber
ofpagesselectedfromthemenuontheleftside.
4OntheleftsideoftheInstallationdialogbox,selectSensorInstallation.
5ForType,selecttheGPSsensortoimportinformationfromaglobalpositioning
system.
6Selectwhichportyouwanttoimportthesensorinformationon.
7Ifyouwanttocheckthecommunicationparameters,selectInspectPort.

Youcannotmakeanychangeshere.Tochangethecommunicationparameters,
usetheI/OSetuppage.
8IfyouwanttocheckthattheperipheralsystemistransmittingdatatotheST90,
selectMonitor.
ThePortMonitordialogboxprovidesonetextboxforincomingmessages(Rx
Data),andoneforoutgoingmessages(TxData).Usetheseboxesandyour
knowledgeofthedatacommunicationtoinvestigatethedatagrams.ThePort
Monitordialogboxisatoolfordebuggingpurposes.Itisneitherrequirednor
intendedfornormaloperationoftheST90.
9Typeacustomnametoidentifytheinterfaceinotherdialogboxes.
10Selectwhichdatagram(s)youwanttoimportfromthesensor.
11Ifrelevant,specifyadedicatedtalkerID.
