Select the type of rack and be aware of rack
installation requirements.
l Supported Rack Requirements
Plan rack location, including required space
clearances around the rack and providing for
appropriate airflow.
l Clearance Requirements
Verify that the maximum weight limitations of the floor
or raised floor are within the stated specifications.
Secure racks to the floor and building structure.
l Building Structure Connection for Rack
Acquire cables and connectors and have them clearly
labeled.
Locate sites for connection of system grounding.
l DC Power Electrical Safety Guidelines
and Warnings
Have the necessary power source and grounding
equipment in place and tested.
Assemble the required Ethernet, serial, and USB
cables with the appropriate connectors, if necessary.

Test the local input power, client and network lines,
and fiber communication network.

General Site Requirements
Only authorized personnel should access the system. Install the equipment in a
restricted-access area that meets this criteria:
l Is a climate-controlled environment Install the system in an air-conditioned
equipment room with year-round humidity control and recirculated, filtered air.
l Is an indoor controlled office environment, such as a network telecommunication
facility.
l Is secure

Only personnel who are instructed about location restrictions and all necessary
precautions have access.

Access is by means of a tool, lock and key, or other means of security. The person
in charge of the location controls the access devices.
l Complies with all applicable local and national safety regulations.
l Guarantees that the conditions for the system potentially meet up to Hazard Level 1M
(IEC 60825-2 and ANSI Z136).
l Is clean and dry and allows enough space for future network connections and
expansion as needed.
l Is protected from water both from above and on the floor.
