Troubleshooting Infrastructure Modules
Fan Module (FTM)
The fan module has variants FTM-2, FTM-3, and FTM-4.
l The SH12 contains three pluggable FTM-2s.
l The SH1R contains three pluggable FTM-3s.
l The SH4R contains two pluggable FTM-4s.
l The SH4R-2 contains two pluggable FTM-4s.
It is recommended to have replacement fan modules available on-site.
If a fan malfunctions or fails, replace the faulty FTM within 48 hours
after failure. To maintain system cooling, ensure that the FTM slot
does not remain empty for longer than 1 minute during the
replacement process.
The FTM Mod LEDindicates the equipment status, power, and failures.
The "Mod"LEDin FTM-3 and FTM-4 is only visible from the rear side of
the shelf. However, the CEM-x Shelf LEDs also indicate any failure in
these modules.
Label Color Status Probable Cause Troubleshooting Steps
Mod Green On steadily Normal operation. No action is required.
Yellow On steadily No connectivity to
the CEM.
1. The CEM might be initializing.
Wait a few seconds.
2. If each FTM LEDis yellow,
check whether the CEM is
installed and operational. If
faulty, replace the CEM.
3. If only this FTM LED is yellow,
replace the FTM.
4. If the new FTM LEDis also
yellow, contact ADVA Optical
Networking. The backplane
might be defective, which
requires replacing the shelf.
Red On steadily The module has
failed.
Replace the FTM within 48 hours
after failure. Return the faulty FTM
to ADVA Optical Networking.
