The HD platform was designed in accordance with state-of-the-art technology and safety
requirements. The equipment complies with various national and international safety
regulations and standards. When used as designed, the HD system is demonstrably safe
under reasonably foreseeable conditions. Even though appropriate safety measures are
incorporated into the system, some elements of risk may remain.
To avoid harm to yourself or the HD products as you install and maintain them, follow and
adhere to the guidelines for working with and near electrical equipment and the safety
procedures for working with networking devices. An exhaustive set of guidelines for
working with electrical equipment is beyond the scope of this document.

These guidelines help to ensure your safety and protect the HD equipment from damage.
The list of guidelines might not address all potentially hazardous situations in your
working environment, so be alert and exercise good judgment at all times.
l Use the product for its intended purpose only. If you use the product in a manner other
than as designed, you assume the responsibilities of a manufacturer or installation
organization. Also, any use other than that of its original intention results in loss of
safety approval for the product.
l Do not perform any modifications or changes to the HD equipment. Any changes can
void the regulatory compliance. In addition, any unauthorized changes or modifications
to this product, without prior written approval by ADVA Optical Networking, voids the
manufacturer's warranty and place you at risk of losing your authority to operate the
equipment.
