Installing a Module Slot Cover 315
Never operate the shelves with open or empty slots. Slots not in use
must be filled with slot covers to maintain proper cooling for all other
modules.

l ESD-preventive wrist strap or other personal grounding device
l Appropriate slot cover
l Slot Covers

Installing a Module Slot Cover
This procedure assumes that:
l The shelf is properly grounded to the rack; and
l The shelf is properly inspected.
1. Verify that you are properly grounded with an anti-static wrist strap or heel strap
connected to the grounded ESDjack.
2. Hold the slot cover by the thumb screws with the faceplate toward you.
3. Align the cover edges with the guides of the appropriate shelf slot.
4. Push on the faceplate to fully seat the slot cover.
