Overview
The PSMs are hot swappable, which means you can remove and replace them while the
HD system is powered on and operating, provided that the system is using a redundant
power configuration.
l Redundant power configuration You can replace only one PSM at a time. The
second PSM must remain connected to the AC or DC power source.
l Non-redundant power configuration You must completely power off the system
when you remove and replace a PSM.
EQUIPMENT DAMAGE MAY RESULT IF YOU ATTEMPT TO
OPERATE THE SYSTEM WITH A DEFECTIVE PSM.
If you encounter any problems with a PSM, simply replace it with a
new one of the same type as soon as possible.
Ensure that you have the replacement PSM available and unpacked before you remove a
PSM from an active shelf. Always replace a PSM immediately to fully restore power
redundancy.
If a replacement PSM is unavailable, either leave the original PSM in the shelf, or remove
it and fill the empty slot with a slot cover until you have the replacement PSM(for
redundant power configurations only). When you install a slot cover, verify that the
remaining PSMs are installed in the correct slots for your redundant power configuration.
