Mounting the SH4R and SH4R-2 Shelf to a
Rack
LIFTINGHAZARD CAUTION
ADVA Optical Networking recommends having two people hold the shelf
in place while a third person secures it to the rack. When carrying and
mounting the SH4R or SH4R-2, use the handles present on the mounting
brackets.
This procedure assumes that:
l The mounting brackets are attached to the shelf;
l A cover extension is installed (if applicable); and
l The grounding cable is installed to the shelf.
1. Verify that you are properly grounded with an anti-static wrist strap or heel strap
connected to the grounded ESD jack.
2. On the rack mounting rails, locate and mark the mounting holes where the bottom of
the shelf will be once it is installed.
3. If you are installing the shelf in a 23-inch four-post rack, attach the guide rail brackets
to the guide rails:
a. Use a Pozidriv screwdriver and four M3x6screws to attach the left guide rail
bracket to the left guide rail.
