Replacing a PSM
11. If the dedicated AC power source outlet has a power switch, set it to the ON (|)
position to power on the system for the first time.
The Mod LED of the first PSM should turn green to indicate that the units are
functioning properly.
If the Mod LED of the PSM is off, no power is being supplied to the unit. In
case of an error, the Mod LED turns red. For troubleshooting information,
see Troubleshooting with Component LEDs or contact ADVA Optical
Networking for technical assistance.

Upgrading a PSM-AC4 to a PSM-AC5
ELECTRIC VOLTAGEWARNING
Before connecting the ACpower cable, ensure that power is
removed from the dedicated AC supply circuit.
This procedure assumes that:
l No voltage is present;
l You properly grounded the shelf to the rack; and
l You unpacked and properly inspected the replacement module;
l The SH4R and SH4R-2 only has two PSM-AC4s installed If you have
three installed, remove one first.
1. Verify that you are properly grounded with an anti-static wrist strap or heel strap
connected to the grounded ESD jack.
2. Verify that the power source is disconnected from the PDU.
3. In the open PSM slot, install a PSM-AC5 with the appropriate straight power cable.
a. Stand behind the shelf, and then hold the PSM upright with the faceplate toward
you.
b. Insert the PSM-AC5 into the appropriate slot.
c. Gently apply pressure to the faceplate while you push the module into the slot.
d. Push on the faceplate to fully seat the module. The module is completely inserted
when its faceplate is flush with the back plate of the shelf.
